A. Wong, Victoria.

There's Chinese food and then there's Chinese food. At A.Wong in Victoria, they are recreating Chinese food in fine dining, small plates form.

We were sat up at the bar, watching the good, the bad and the ugly unfurl at the heart of the kitchen.

We started with a snack of steamed scottish langoustines.

And moved on to cumin spiced barbecued lamb with pomegranate.

Then the dish that was so good, we ordered it twice…

Honey roasted foie gras with candied pork jerky and pomelo.

I loved this next one. Chicken wings stuffed with prawns in a black bean sauce.

Probably the least impressive of all. Crab and seafood filled in braised leaves, with shallot powder and cockles.

Dim sum is only served at lunch here, but they offer a 3 piece selection at dinner. On the left, pork and prawn dumpling with - yes - PORK CRACKLING on top. On the right, crispy won ton with sweet chilli dip.

 A shanghai dumpling.

And for dessert, tea smoked banana, nut crumble, soy, chocolate and caramel.

I wanted to lick the plate clean. I've never had anything like it before.

A. Wong is doing great things for Chinese food. It's different and it's unique. Not to say that your standard Chinese food isn't delicious, but A. Wong are doing Chinese food like no other in London.

I can't wait to go back, especially to try their dim sum that they only do at lunch.
