Budapest: Day 2

We still hadn't seen all the main sites in Budapest, so goal for day two was to see Heroes Square and the City Park.

The day started as all days should. With coffee and cake for breakfast.

Newly discovered honey coffee....gorgeous! Not too sweet at all. Orange juice was to balance the cake. Just to keep it healthy.

Decisions, decisions.....

Heroes Square is one of Hungary's world heritage sites.

On either side of the square was a museum and an art gallery housed in very impressive buildings.

The Museum

Art Gallery

Inside the park were many lakes and an island with pretty museums and church buildings.

Europe's largest Museum of Agriculture is housed in an unbelievably beautiful castle in the island. Unfortunately, it was closed which is SUCH a shame because I do LOVE my agricultural stuff.

It looked like something out of Beauty and the Beast. I couldn't believe what I was seeing!! The church opposite was equally as impressive.

The rest of the park was so picturesque.

Walk a little bit further and you find the Fair, the Botanical Gardens, the Zoo and one of the many famous Thermal Baths that Budapest has to offer.

This little guy was obviously a rogue from the dog show we stumbled across in the park:

Yes....the flag is attached.

Walking back down Andrássy Street, which runs all the way from the city centre to Heroes Square, we stumbled across a little Japanese tea room and a museum dedicated to ancient East Asian art. Not exactly....the right culture, but pretty nonetheless!!

Pretty sure that was real ivory....

Pretty sure that is a real crocodile hide...

During the long walk back, we got a bit tired and needed a break for some sustenance so stopped off in a Cafe right next to the Opera House for some cocktails, who's awning read: BOLLINGER. Pretty perfect really.

The pretty inside of the café

Then once we'd got to the hotel, we decided drinks just weren't enough and found the most hipster-looking café in all of Budapest and got some cake too.

Then we got all dolled up to go to head out for the evening.

The outfit in full. All Topshop, shoes Asos.

IN LOVE with S's maxi, from H&M. Slippers look fab too.

Unfortunately, as I only had a weekend here, staying in the tourist trap was all we really had time to do. If I'd had more time I would have loved to explore other districts and side streets a little more. See where people who live in Budapest actually hang out. As our hotel was along a very main road, which was on one hand great because it meant it was so easy for us to get around, it also meant we only stayed in districts 5,1,6 a bit of 8 and XIV (my Roman Numerals fail me), which are the main areas.

I know I will definitely be back and I will definitely spend more time exploring the back streets and stay away from all the tourist areas.
